Conflicts of philosophy

Some sample output from my tests of the Conflict system for the browserish Roguelike MMOish thing that I am writing; at the moment, it is just NPCs challenging each other.

I am a little bored of games where “conflict” simply means repeated murder attempts, so I decided to test with a different model of conflict.

Round 1 begins!

• Stoic Philosopher 3 proposes a theory, but it is easily countered by Epicurian Philosopher 1.
• Stoic Philosopher 2 deals a crushing blow to the position of Epicurian Philosopher 1.
• Epicurian Philosopher 1 takes a defensive argumentative stance.
• Stoic Philosopher 1 does not impress Epicurian Philosopher 3.
• Epicurian Philosopher 2 proposes a theory, but it is easily countered by Stoic Philosopher 2.
• Epicurian Philosopher 3 proposes a theory, but it is easily countered by Stoic Philosopher 2.

Round 2 begins!

• Epicurian Philosopher 1 does not impress Stoic Philosopher 3.
• Stoic Philosopher 1 proposes a theory, but it is easily countered by Epicurian Philosopher 1.
• Stoic Philosopher 3 finds flaws in the position of Epicurian Philosopher 2.
• Epicurian Philosopher 2 is stunned by the attack!
• Epicurian Philosopher 2 is stunned, and cannot act!
• Stoic Philosopher 2 devastates Epicurian Philosopher 2’s argument!
• Humiliated, Epicurian Philosopher 2 runs away crying.
• Epicurian Philosopher 3 stays silent, and ponders responses.

Round 3 begins!

• Stoic Philosopher 3 does not impress Epicurian Philosopher 1.
• Epicurian Philosopher 3 devastates Stoic Philosopher 3’s argument!
• Stoic Philosopher 1 finds flaws in the position of Epicurian Philosopher 1.
• Epicurian Philosopher 1 has run out of arguing positions. Stoic Philosopher 2 does not impress Epicurian Philosopher 3.

Round 4 begins!

• Stoic Philosopher 1 proposes a theory, but it is easily countered by Epicurian Philosopher 3.
• Stoic Philosopher 3 deals a crushing blow to the position of Epicurian Philosopher 3.
• Epicurian Philosopher 3 is stunned by the attack!
• Epicurian Philosopher 3 is stunned, and cannot act!
• Stoic Philosopher 2 deals a crushing blow to the position of Epicurian Philosopher 3.
• Humiliated, Epicurian Philosopher 3 runs away crying.
• Conflict has been won by the Stoic school!
